WHITE HOUSE PRESS COVERAGE

U.S. PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH INVITES LOCAL COLUMBUS FEMALE EXECUTIVES TO DISCUSS FOREIGN TRADE POLICY

Columbus, Ohio, August 7, 2001- Judy Huang Lewis, founder of Columbus based 889 Global Solutions Ltd., was invited and met with US President George W. Bush Thursday August 3, 2001 at the White House to discuss foreign trade issues. Ms. Huang as 1 of 32 female executives was part of a "fly-in" sponsored by The Business Roundtable's go TRADE organization and supported by the Ohio Alliance for International Trade, to promote passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA). Every President from Ford to Clinton has had TPA but in 1994 the legislation lapsed and has not been renewed. Our foreign competitors are negotiating a web of trade agreements that exclude us. Of the more than 130 bilateral and regional trade agreements in force, only two include the United States (US-Israel and NAFTA).

George W. Bush speaks to The Business Roundtable President Bush expressed his vision to "capture the spirit of hope uniting the nation.trade is a vital issue as far as I am concerned.NAFTA has been a huge winner for our hemisphere.trade benefits us globally as well.when you develop the habits of a marketplace you develop the habits of democracy (referring to China). The President (I) needs the capacity to negotiate free trade agreements."

US Trade Representative Robert Zoellick and Secretary of Agriculture Ann Veneman also addressed the executives. Secretary Veneman pointed out we "must talk about the real benefits we gain from trade agreements.its good for our businesses and good for our consumers.we (USA) are on the sidelines.and we must have TPA to continue to negotiate agreements, to create new market opportunities, to remain competitive in the global marketplace and without the ability to negotiate new agreements, enormous opportunities are being lost." Ambassador Zoellick expressed "an activist US trade strategy is essential.the topic of trade intersects with all of us.small and medium sized enterprises, these businesses are without the big corporate affiliates and need straight forward rules, trade transparency.trade and openness are vitally important to women around the world.free trade is a women's issue.the rest of the world has the authority to negotiate at the table.it is crucial for the US to get off the sidelines.TPA will send an unmistakable signal that we speak with one voice at the negotiating table."

Judy Huang Lewis and Robert ZoellickAccording to Ms Huang, "The awarding of the Olympics in 2008, and China's accession to the WTO are great things for our business and all businesses that deal with China since it creates a higher level of confidence, more transparency and, therefore, reduces the level of fear so many US manufacturing companies have when it comes to China."

Participants in this "fly-in" included The Business Roundtable, a collection of US based senior executives currently headed by Boeing's Phil Condit, 889 Global Solutions, Mercedes Benz, Genzyme, Daimler Chrysler, Honda of America, Massachusetts Export Center & Mevatec among others.
